Army of Two (3 out of 5)

After my little rant about co-op gaming last time I thought I better lift the mood a bit, and what better to do that with than a game specifically designed for co-op gaming.

As a game it’s not the best, the controls could be a bit smoother, and the graphics seem a bit unfinished, but I really like the fact that they have designed it specifically for co-op.

It has a neat new feature that I haven’t seen in other games called Agro. What happens is the more you shoot at the enemy or generally make a noise, the higher the Agro needle swings off your buddy and more onto you. So when your buddy has no Agro, he basically becomes invisible to the enemy as they are looking at you.  He’s then able to move around them and get them from another angle.  Of course as soon as he starts shooting his Agro level goes up and they notice him again, but it’s great for strategic game play.

I would say that this game is somewhere between Gears of War  and Rainbow 6 Vegas.  You have the hiding behing things like you do in Vegas, and with the Agro you have a lot of the stratagy of taking the enemy on from more than one angle.  But it is a lot more of a kill fest, where you can take a lot of damage before going down, and even when you do your buddy can heal you.

All in all I am really enjoying this game, it isn’t as polished as some of the big name games out there but from a playabilty point of view its’s worth it.
