It is now possible to set downloads for your Xbox from the Xbox website.
Up until recently if you have wanted to download any new content for you Xbox, be it a new demo or a game that you want to buy, or even a movie to watch, you had to be at home and set your Xbox to do it. Now you can set it to download from the Xbox live website, without even having your Xbox turned on.
The process is remarkable easy. You log onto the site with your account details, head over to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and from there you can browse all the content that is available. Once you’ve found what your looking for you can click on the “Download to Xbox 360″ button.
This brings up a confirmation screen, confirming what you want to download and the price in Xbox points. Once you confirm, it gets added to your download que. So the next time your xbox is connected to Xbox live it will start to download.
I think this could potential be a great advance for the Xbox live system. Especially if they can integrate a LoveFilm type of system into it. Not sure if the guys in the states are able to do this. But it would be great to be able to choose the movie that I want to watch tonight, log onto the site while I’m out and about (tried it from my iPhone and it worked well) and when I get home have the game or movie waiting for me.
The only down side that I can see is that for it to work well, you really need to leave your Xbox turned on while your away from home. Something that I think I might be nervouse to do while the “red ring of death” is still an issue for the Xbox. Glad to see however that at least some of our Gold membership fee is being used for some good.
