It’s rumored that Microsoft are phasing out the 120gb Xbox elites to make room for a 250gb version. The elites already dropped  in price, in fact down to as low as £160, it’s painful as I can still remember shedding out over £300 for mine. Last year they released a limited edition Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 console that came with a 250gb drive, so its only a matter of time.

So if your thinking of gettin an xbox any time soon, you might wana hold out, either that or snap up a bargain 120gb model.

To be honest, size doesn’t matter.

You need enough room to store your downloaded demos, videos and game saves, and 120gb does this nicely. I guess the reason they’d be rolling out bigger hard drives is that they’re now releasing whole games as download instead of buying the disc.

In theory this makes sense, all that money saved on production and packaging, shipping and retail, so you’d expect the games to be significantly cheaper, but unfortunately not, seems Micro$oft have found another way to squeeze a few more quid out of us.

Still can’t believe how much they charge for a harddrive! It’s a laptop harddrive with a bit of firmware on it in a case. You can buy a 500gb hdd for £50, but if you want one for your xbox, it’s £70 for a 60 gb! what a joke!

Unless you’re planning on buying games online as downloads, i wouldn’t worry bout only having a 120gb drive. It’ll be enough for demos, videos and DLC (downloadable content), and remember you can always attach a drive via usb to store your music and videos on. Unfortunately you can’t use an external drive for games and dlc to help stop piracy.
